2020 Fav's and Happy New Year!

I remember 100 years ago when 2020 started, I never thought it would have wound up like this! But here we are. What a year indeed! 2020 was supposed to be a big travel year for me but alas, I only got out to a few places. I’m not going to ramble on about how terrible 2020 was though. While 2020 was full of plenty of doom and gloom, it was also magical in many ways for me. So I wanted to share some of those moments via a collection of photos. If you had a tough year like most of us did, maybe sharing my work here can help you remember that beneath the surface of 2020 there’s still hope and joy to be had.

I started out the year with a winter trip to Death Valley National Park (not during the 130 degree heat wave they had this summer!). My annual backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada (this year was Pioneer Basin) was as rewarding as ever. Then throw in a couple of awesome astronomical events with Comet Neowise and the Jupiter and Saturn conjunction. But I also focused quite a bit on journalism this year. There was plenty of opportunity with all the protests and wildfires. There were so many important stories to tell.

I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do. And I hope 2021 is, well, not 2020. But seriously, here’s to bigger and better things! Happy New Year!
